Or, seven reasons why you should join sheldon_penny.

So maybe you've seen The Big Bang Theory, maybe not. If you haven't - let me tell you, it is an awesome show for the number of fandom references it packs into a single episode alone, not to mention the fantastic ensemble cast. The premise is that a street-savvy hopeful actress (Penny) moves in across from two roommates (Sheldon and Leonard), a pair of beautiful minds who share a workplace (Caltech) and an interest in all things geek. Leonard/Penny is the show's canon pairing, but Sheldon/Penny is ascendant, and for good reason.

sheldon_penny is the center of the fandom. Maybe you're a rabid OTPer, maybe you're a multishipper, maybe you like Sheldon/Leonard but the chemistry between Sheldon and Penny is too good to pass up; whatever your motive, you need to be in this fandom. I am not joking. It is AWESOME.

04. The general vibe in the community.

There is always something going on - whether it's a kink meme, a discussion on canon characterization inconsistencies, or just a random conversation on Twitter about a Firefly/BBT fusion. The mods are the most active and in-touch moderators I've come across yet, and more than that, all the people are fantastic. You won't find hate or flaming here, and probably two-fifths of my flist are people I've gotten to know through the comm. *squishes them*

We're also going to hit 1,000 members pretty soon, which is all kinds of awesome!


05. Forget fic and art. We have vids and picspams and more awesome fan creations than you can shake a stick at.

Part of that's canon, true.

But if you want to discuss gaming or comic books or BSG or Star Trek, there's always someone hanging around (usually on Twitter, like I mentioned) who's interested and willing. I've had serious conversations on characterization degenerate into Whedon love-fests of epic length. Even better, I get to channel my geekiness into Sheldon and Penny - I've written Sheldon and Penny at comic con, Sheldon and Penny arguing about their relationship via a conversation on Firefly, Penny the slasher, Sheldon the BNF, Penny the Starfleet captain and sister of Doctor McCoy...I'm not even joking.


Most of all, it is my favoritest LJ community ever, and I do love it so. :)
