I've had my DW account for nearly a week now, and can I just say that I love it?
I'm not proposing that Dreamwidth is some sort of heaven-sent platform handed down from the ceiling cat to fandom - DW is, as has been said many time before, not even a fandom project. Let it be known that I don't have a grudge against LJ, I've only been around on DW for a week, I'm not a big name, I haven't a lick of background in business or coding, and I am for all intents and purposes allergic to wank.
For what it's worth, I still think Dreamwidth is pretty neat.
I'm coming at this from the angle of a fan, but, well, that's what I am, and that's why I use the internet, really. I'm content to wallow in my little corner of the web, mostly lurking and sometimes writing fic and occasionally posting about David Tennant's eyebrows or Nathan Fillion's eyelashes or Jim Parsons' hands. From that perspective, here's a jumble of what I like about Dreamwidth, along with some related
metafandom links I found particularly articulate or helpful.
(This is mostly intended for those of you who don't know much about Dreamwidth or haven't yet been persuaded to give it a try; I'm sure some of you are tired of hearing about it, in which case I beg your indulgence.)
( Read more... )So there we go. Thinky thoughts on Dreamwidth. Now I'll go back to lurking at
sheldon_penny. (Which has a DW mirror, guys! How awesome is that?)
