A. Pre-divorce
MCCOY WEDDING PICTURE Y/Y?
In my head these are Jocelyn's bridesmaids, but idk, maybe she does theater on the side or something.
And then she and Bones are BLISSFULLY HAPPY for the first couple of years. They do outdoorsy type things together, like FISHING, and Joss catches all these enormous fish, and Bones would be manfully insulted, but he loves her too much to care when she beats himat everything sometimes.
THEY ALSO RIDE HORSES, OF COURSE. Maybe they even own a couple. I think she's from Mississippi in my head. I'm completely ignoring Memory Beta. (Jocelyn Treadway's article is here, btw.)
AND SHE IS JUST GENERALLY SO GORGEOUS AND AWESOME THAT BONES CAN'T HELP BUT BE HEAD OVER HEELS FOR HER.
She's probably a comic book fan, too. Jocelyn would be awesome like that.
B. Joanna
And then she gets pregnantand more gorgeous. I'm not actually sure if Joanna exists in this new canon I'm building - tbh, I'm kind of toying with the idea that Joss miscarries and that's what starts to drive her and Bones apart. They're both depressed, he starts working longer hours, and they just sort of fall apart...Maybe not, though, since that is sad. :(
Anyway, somewhere around this time she and Bones split up. (We all know about De Kelley refusing to take his wedding ring off while filming TOS, right?) Somehow I've spun the wedding ring thing into Bones still being COMPLETELY in love with her, and I really don't think I'm going to go the adultery route with this - I can stomach a lot of things in fic, but cheating on a spouse just doesn't sit right, and the Joss I'm building doesn't seem like the person to do so. I never really liked the Clay Treadway thing anyway...I guess I could see it happening in the aftermath of loosing the baby, if I go with that, but definitely not a long-term thing.
But! you say. Just stop being a wuss and write her that way! She committed adultery! It happens! It doesn't make her innately unsympathetic! And yeah, I know it doesn't, just...idk, I'm thinking about it, okay?
And now I realize not only do I have this massive story planned out in my head, I'm also capable of arguing details of it with myself. FTL.
C. ReunionI want happy!reunionfic SO HARD
After the events in movie, they'll meet up again, of course - and she'll have DYED HER HAIR, OH NOES. I'm kind of thinking she ought to be a forensic investigator or crime solver of some sort, even though in the TOS-era novels she ends up in the Diplomatic Corps. STARFLEET CSI, Y/Y? I'm actually seeing some sort of "Journey to Babel" rewrite here, where a high-ranking ambassador is murdered onboard the Enterprise and Joss and her team of specialists come in to solve the mystery.
ANYWAY, SHE CONTINUES TO BE HIGHLY COMPETENT AND STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS. ALSO, SHE CAN SING.
AND THEN THERE WAS AWESOME. The end. BRB off to write fic now.
