Blame this on the kink meme; the top two prompts on my "to write" list are for girl!Spock/McCoy and Spock/Reaper!McCoy. Combining them *seemed* like a good idea. Seriously, though, the things that meme is doing to me aren't even funny. I'm actually thinking about writing mpreg, and that hasn't been my thing since I was thirteen and reading Harry/Draco like there was no tomorrow. I might as well give in and write Kirk/McCoy, too. *facepalm*

TITLE: No Going Home
CHARACTERS: Kind of gen-ish, really girl!Spock/Reaper!McCoy I am not even kidding.
WORDCOUNT: ~3200
WARNINGS: Violence. Nothing terribly graphic, but it's Doom, right?
SUMMARY: Klingons and Olduvai are not a desirable combination. And Starfleet was working so well for him, too.
NOTES: A Star Trek/Doom crossover, with appearances by—still not joking—the Avengers. Yeah, you think this is sad, wait until you see how many sequels are rattling around in my head.

I haven't posted fic in weeks, practically, which is Not Cool, and here is rambling and an explanation and perhaps even a chance for you-the-reader to prod me-the-blocked in the right direction.

First: the Jocelyn McCoy story. I am stuckstuckstuck on this, probably because I'm not sure how this story wants to be told and I don't have a firm handle on Jocelyn's voice. I started out with this:

And then I took that opening and revised it into this:

Anyway, in the meantime (as inspired by a tinychat session), I got the idea of setting a Sheldon/Penny story in St. Louis. I've always wanted to do a story that closely ties the location with the rest of the story, and there are few cities I know so well as St. Louis, but now I am stuck on that too, because it's turned into something very difficult and nearly raw.

This story from Robin McKinley's blog is too adorable to not share. It comes to you in screengrab form, because I now have a Firefox add-on that will save the entire page. (So cool!)

And snippet!fic, McCoy/Jocelyn. This isn't set in the story proper, but I was trying to work out how they'd met, and now that story wants to be written.

It is kind of breaking my brain to call Bones something other than "Bones" or "McCoy," I will not lie.

This entire thing should probably be prefaced with a brief explanation: Ever since I wrote this story, I've been desperate for some McCoy/Jocelyn fic. (Jocelyn, btw, is the name that most Star Trek novels give Bones' ex; I tend to go along with it, even if it isn't strictly canon, because "Jocelyn" can be shortened to "Joss" and that is a pretty fine name.) I'm not sure if this is inspired by Bones always wearing his wedding ring (at least, y'know, in my head canon) or a need to reclaim Jocelyn or what, but I'm kind of toying with the idea that they're still desperately in love, but for whatever reason couldn't make things work out.

Okay, so this is my awesome idea of the week: Lucy Lawless should play Jocelyn. I KNOW, RIGHT? I CAN'T BE ALONE IN THINKING THIS IS AWESOME.

TITLE: My Best Friends' Wedding
CHARACTERS: Spock/McCoy, Kirk
WORDCOUNT: ~1300
NOTES: Written for the kink meme. Not-terribly-appropriate!title is not terribly appropriate.
SUMMARY: So the telepathic bond thing seems to be working for Spock and Bones. Except for the part where it's driving Jim up the wall.

Or, seven reasons why you should join [livejournal.com profile] sheldon_penny.

So maybe you've seen The Big Bang Theory, maybe not. If you haven't - let me tell you, it is an awesome show for the number of fandom references it packs into a single episode alone, not to mention the fantastic ensemble cast. The premise is that a street-savvy hopeful actress (Penny) moves in across from two roommates (Sheldon and Leonard), a pair of beautiful minds who share a workplace (Caltech) and an interest in all things geek. Leonard/Penny is the show's canon pairing, but Sheldon/Penny is ascendant, and for good reason.

[livejournal.com profile] sheldon_penny is the center of the fandom. Maybe you're a rabid OTPer, maybe you're a multishipper, maybe you like Sheldon/Leonard but the chemistry between Sheldon and Penny is too good to pass up; whatever your motive, you need to be in this fandom. I am not joking. It is AWESOME.

K, so you probably want reasons, right?

I had a dream last night wherein Xena and Karl-Urban-Caesar were t'hy'la, and you know, it was all tragic when Caesar betrayed Xena, even more than in the show because they had this mind-link and everything, but then Kirk came and told Xena it would be okay because mirror!Scotty had betrayed him, too, and he'd gotten over it. I think Spock was lurking in the background wearing Joxor's outfit.

...Guys, I don't even know. My brain is broken.

"Alright, Spock," Bones said, "I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt this time and not accuse you of kickin' up a ruckus, even if you are an ornery little pest more of the time."

I cannot get out of my head the idea of a Spindle's End/Star Trek fusion, with Spock as Rosie and Bones as Narl (because *Karl Urban*!) and Jim as Peony. OMG, it would be epic. I may have to write this.

FYI, if you do want to track updates for this and don't want to bother friending me, you can go here and track notifications for the tag "blue." :)

Blue (3/?). Spock/McCoy, Amanda, ensemble. All parts here.
"There you go, Bones," Jim said. "Fresh coffee! Every morning!" He beamed at Spock like Spock just pulled the sun out of his goddamn ass, and Spock looked smugly impassive back, and Bones sipped his fresh coffee and seethed.

Off to Bones' right, a slender woman attired in a vaguely foreign dress was strolling along the path. Her hands were clasped behind her back—the posture stirred an echo of memory—and she looked to be admiring the spring jonquils.

So here's the skinny: I started writing this Spock/McCoy story called "Heal Thyself," and I still absolutely adore the idea, but it's expanding in about eighteen new directions since I started writing it and I hate the title and there is no way the thing is going to be finished in five parts, so I'm restructuring the story and posting it in the same manner as my other (sadly neglected) WIP, which means one scene at a time, no beta, no crossposting, just whatever spills out of me that day. I'm editing and reposting the first two parts right now, and I'll make a note when new material starts appearing.

Without further ado:

Blue (1/?). Spock/McCoy, Amanda, ensemble. All parts here.
The Vulcan's eyes narrowed a fraction; Bones read that as disapproval, tried to summon some measure of feeling, and completely failed to give a damn. "I have read your paper on the administration of inaprovaline as a treatment for cytotoxic shock in hominid lifeforms. Cadet McCoy, may I inquire—"

TITLE: The End of the World as a Local Phenomenon

Community pimping!

[livejournal.com profile] mostillogical is pretty much a comm I set up to house various Spock/McCoy masterlists, but I thought, y'know, there isn't really a community specifically for reboot!Spock/McCoy, so if anyone wants to post stuff, that could be cool.

[livejournal.com profile] crackenterprise - Actually, I'm not pimping this one so much as I am noting that I'm now gathering fic recs for them, so if anyone stumbles across a particularly AWESOME Star Trek XI fic, feel free to fling a link in my direction!

[livejournal.com profile] where_no_woman is for the women of Star Trek and I LOVE IT, because, WOMEN. STAR TREK. AWESOME, amrite?

And finally, the first part in my infinite series BETTER KNOW A GQMF: Karl Urban. (KUNAL NAYYAR IS NEXT, GUYS!)

We finally have internet again (yay!), although I spent most of the day on the road and am way too tired to do anything but leave this here; it will remain technically unfinished until morning, at which point I will not only edit and finish it but send off beta'd stories to the three people who are waiting for a response. (Sorry for the delay, guys!) I was kind of anxious to get this up so I can get back to "Heal Thyself," which has mutated from a five-part complete story to a five-part prologue to another story wherein Spock and McCoy steal the Galileo (with Kirk's tacit permission) and take off on a renegade mission to save the universe save Spock's mommy spread the spirit of free manlove.

Anyway. Story. And then: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

TITLE: Satisfactory
CHARACTERS: Spock/McCoy
NOTES: This was posted in part on [livejournal.com profile] st_xi_kink as Some Observations on Opposition in Human-Vulcan Relations, but the comment limit maxed out and along the way I had a better idea for a title and an ending. Although the original request was for antics and/or porn after Spock learns that McCoy Prime carried around Spock Prime's katra for a while, this is neither particularly humorous nor particularly smutty. It has Spock POV, though?
SUMMARY: Advancing a relationship with Leonard McCoy only seems logical, particularly after Spock hears that the good doctor carried his katra in another life.
